Four Careers in Alternative Energy   by Naomi Delorme

The high demand for newer, cleaner forms of energy has led to the creation of companies that specialize and produce alternative energy. All of these companies require a vast amount of employees to properly run and operate, and with so many companies being created there is a huge demand for people who wish to seek a career in alternative energy.

There are dozens of career paths you can choose to pursue in the field of alternative energy. Everything from architects, marketing executives, finance directors, and biochemical engineers are employed by alternative energy companies. The following four careers are considered “in demand” careers for those who wish to pursue a career in this field.

Architects

Energy companies hire architects to help them build and develop oil and gas rigs. These architects can help design the rigs, create the structural system that is used to drill and mine for the oil, or help develop the entire mining and drilling camps from where the rigs should be placed to where roads and paths should go.

Marketing Executives

Marketing executives are needed to help generate public interest in these new alternative forms of energy. Public interest can be generated by launching media campaigns, creating attention grabbing advertisements, and partnering with local organizations. A marketing executive is responsible for developing a campaign that will capture the public’s interest and raise awareness of the various forms of
energy.

Finance Director

Companies that produce this type of energy need someone to handle the finances that help keep the company running. A finance director handles the money and ensures everything is in proper order. They can help keep these specialized energy companies operating at a profit, and offer suggestions for when their profits start to dip.

Biochemical Engineers

Biochemical engineers are hired by alternative energy companies, like Marcellus gas, to ensure that what is being produced does not have a negative impact on the environment. Producing oil or gas that is unsafe or harmful to the environment and humans can have a negative impact on the company itself. Biochemical engineers will test the gas or oil that is being produced to ensure that it is safe for humans and plant life.

There will only be a higher demand for unique energy companies as the world’s demand for oil and energy increases and the existing supply decreases. Pursuing one of these careers in alternative energy can lead to a long, successful career that is in high demand.
